Causes and Consequences of Earthquakes

Earthquakes can happen for many reasons

(1) If a major rock breakage occurs inside the earth, or if there is a fold in the rock, or if any part of the crust sits down or rises as a result of that crack, then both fractures cause friction between the floor or the Fault Plane.

(2) The ground is slowly shrinking as it radiates heat. As a result, the earth is losing its balance - this is also causing earthquakes.

(3) Earthquakes are often caused by outward vapor pressure during volcanic eruptions.

(4) Earthquake may occur as a result of destruction on the sloping part of the hill due to rainfall etc.
