Natural Benefits and Healing Properties of Carrots

Carrot (Daucus carota)

Carrot is a popular vegetable all over the world. It is a very powerful cleansing food. Carrot green leaves are very nutritious, rich in protein, minerals and vitamins. There are many varieties of carrots. Mainly it can be divided into two main groups – Asiatic and European types. The first type is large in size, dark in color and sweet in taste. But the latter type is preferred for smooth surface, thin inner part, good shape, less fibrous nature.

Origin and spread

Carrots originated in the hilly regions of Punjab and Kashmir in Central Asia, India. It is cultivated in Asia, Europe, North Africa and the Mediterranean and Caribbean regions.

Food quality

Nutritionally, carrots are a very rich source of vitamin A. It contains carotene, a precursor of vitamin A, and the liver converts carotene into vitamin A in our body.

Carrots contain adequate amounts of sodium, sulphur, chlorine and a very small amount of iodine. Most of its minerals are very close to the peel, so the peel should not be thrown away.

Food Value: Water, minerals and vitamins, calcium, phosphorus, iron, vitamin C, protein, fat, carbohydrates, small amounts of vitamin B complex.

Carrots are rich in alkaline elements, which cleanse and rejuvenate the blood. It nourishes all the systems and helps maintain the body acid-base balance. Carrot juice is beneficial for children and elderly alike. It strengthens the eyesight and keeps the mucous membranes in all body cavities in a healthy condition. It is useful in treating dry and uneven skin. However, the use of carrot seeds should be avoided in the early stages of pregnancy, as it increases the toxicity of the uterine wall and can cause miscarriage.

Prevents tooth decay

Chewing a carrot immediately after a meal kills all types of harmful bacteria in the mouth. It cleans teeth, removes food particles stuck between teeth and prevents bleeding gums and tooth decay.

Digestive disturbances

Chewing carrots increases saliva and speeds up digestion by providing essential enzymes, minerals and vitamins. Eating carrots regularly does not cause gastric ulcers and other digestive disorders. Carrot juice is a very effective food remedy for colic, colitis, appendicitis, peptic ulcer and indigestion.

Constipation

A mixture of carrot juice with spinach juice and a little lemon juice is very effective in treating constipation. Spinach juice cleanses the stomach.

Diarrhea

Carrot soup is an effective natural remedy for diarrhea. It provides fluids to prevent dehydration and compensates for sodium, potassium, phosphorus, calcium, sulfur and manganese deficiencies. It is a good source of pectin and coats the arms, thus reducing inflammation. It prevents the growth of harmful bacteria and prevents vomiting.

Use

Carrots are used in many ways. It can be eaten raw in salads. It is also consumed in the form of soup and juice. However, the best benefits are obtained when eaten raw.
