Drinking tea is a daily habit for many, but if it is not consumed properly, it can cause health problems. Some correct rules and suggestions for drinking tea are given below:

The correct rules for drinking tea:

Do not drink tea on an empty stomach

Drinking tea on an empty stomach can cause acidity, gas or nausea.

Drink tea 30-60 minutes before or after meals

Drinking tea right after or before meals reduces the absorption of iron from food.

Do not drink more than 2-3 cups a day

Excessive caffeine intake can cause sleep problems, high blood pressure and anxiety.

Avoid caffeinated tea after dinner

It can disrupt sleep.

Add less or no milk and sugar to tea

Adding too much milk and sugar reduces the health benefits of tea. Mild black tea or green tea is better.

Drink tea hot, but not too hot

Excessive hot tea can cause burning in the throat or esophagus.

Avoid fried foods with tea

E.g.: Onion, Chop, Samocha—These can cause stomach problems.
