Hazrat Fatima Alaihis Salam is an important and revered figure in the history of Islam. She was the beloved daughter of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and the wife of the fourth Caliph of Islam, Hazrat Ali (peace be upon him). 1. Birth and childhood

Hazrat Fatima (A.S.) was born in Makkah to the Quraysh clan.

There is some difference of opinion as to the year of his birth, but 605 AD (or 20 Vesakh, 8 A.H.) is generally accepted.

She was the youngest daughter of Hazrat Khadija (a.s.) and the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.).


2. Titles and Qualities

Titles: Fatimah (A.S.) has various titles, such as:

Zahra: (bright and pure)

Siddiqa: (Truthful)

Tahira: (Sacred)

Umm Abiha: (father mother or father caregiver)

He was very pious, humble, and wise. She set a unique ideal for women in the early days of Islam.


3. Married life

After Hijra, Hazrat Fatima (A.S.) got married to Hazrat Ali (A.S.).

Their house was next to the Prophet Mosque in Medina.

This marriage was a unique example of love, respect and simplicity.


4. Offspring

Hazrat Fatima (A.S.) had five children:

Imam Hasan (A.S.)

Imam Hussain (a.s.) — who was martyred in the battle of Karbala.

Zaynab (as)

Umm Kulsoom (A.S.)

5. Contribution to Islam

Hazrat Fatima (as) is considered a role model for women in Muslim society.

6. Fidak incident

After the death of the Prophet (PBUH), a dispute arose over the land of Fidaq, which caused a rift between Hazrat Fatima (PBUH) and the then Caliph.

During this incident he set a unique example of standing for truth and justice through his speech.


7. Death

Hazrat Fatima (AS) passed away in 632 AD (11 Hijri) just six months after the death of the Prophet (PBUH).

His funeral and burial took place in the dark of night, and his grave site is still unknown.

Hazrat Fatima (A.S.) is a milestone in establishing the dignity and rights of women in Islamic civilization.

9. Special status

It is said in the hadith, "Fatima is a piece of my heart" (Nabi Karim).

He is known as the leader of the women of Paradise.
